HHS students may be receiving messages about late fees on library books. The system is automated and generates these letters. Students will not be assessed fines during AMI days. Mrs Carla McDougald is working to address the issue on her end. You may return library books to the return box in front of the High School building.

Sunday, March 15, 2020 The state of Arkansas has ordered that the district close for the education of our students in our buildings. We will utilize AMI (alternative methods of instruction) days beginning Monday, March 16, 2020 through Friday, March 20, 2020. Our current plan is to return to school on Monday, March 30, 2020, depending upon the guidance from the state of Arkansas. Next week, March 23-27, 2020 is our previously scheduled Spring Break. During this closure by the state of Arkansas, there will be NO extra-curricular activities, including athletic practices. Buildings and facilities belonging to the Hermitage School District are closed to all guests until further notice. Friday, March 13, 2020 was the end of the 3rd quarter, according to our school calendar. 3rd quarter grades and report cards will not be available until after we return from this state-mandated closure. Our staff at both buildings has provided, or will provide via Google Classroom, AMI information and will be available for our students via email and Google classroom. You may also call the elementary school office at (870) 463-8500, the high school office at (870) 463-2235, or the district office at (870) 463-2246 for any assistance. Phones will be answered daily this week from 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM. Staff may be reached via email (firstname.lastname@hermitageschools.org) as needed during this time. During this closure, staff will continue the enhanced disinfection measures in all facilities and on school buses as we began several weeks ago. Please remember the measures you should take to prevent the spread of any virus by: (1) staying at home when sick, (2) washing your hands with soap and water, when available, or use hand sanitizer, (3) avoiding touching your face with unwashed hands, (4) avoiding traveling to an area with known cases of COVID-19, (5) staying 6 feet away from other individuals (social distancing), and (6) covering your mouth with your elbow if coughing and sneezing. Our School Nurse, Suzanne Grice, will be available daily from 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM if you have medical issues or concerns that you need or want to discuss with her. She may be reached at the elementary school at (870) 463-8500. Selena Jurado, HSD Migrant Coordinator, will be available daily for those needing Spanish translation services or other assistance. She may be reached at the high school office at (870) 463-2235. During this time of closure, the Hermitage School District will provide meals to students. A breakfast meal and grab and go lunch will be provided. These meals are available to ANY child 18 years of age or younger, regardless if they attend school in the Hermitage School District or not. Meal delivery will be at the following locations and times: • Hermitage Apartments (main road at C circle)- 11:00 AM; • Eagle Lake Baptist Church (parking lot)- 11:25 AM; • Johnsville (green store parking lot)- 11:45 AM; • Spring Hill Baptist Church (parking lot)- 11:00 AM; and, • High School (circle drive)- 11:15 – 11:45 AM. Drop offs in these locations will be quick! Please be there waiting for drop off service. For the most accurate and up-to-date information specific to COVID-19 and Arkansas, please consult the webpage for the Arkansas Department of Health at www.healthy.arkansas.gov. Another reliable resource to use is the website for the Centers for Disease Control at www.cdc.gov. The district will provide updates about this situation on our Facebook page, Hermitage School Information Page, as well as on our website, www.hermitageschools.org. Please call the district office at (870) 463-2246 if you have any questions or need any additional information. Student and staff wellness is important and we appreciate your support during this time. We anticipate more guidance from the state of Arkansas during this time. Please check our website and Facebook page regularly for updates! Respectfully, Dr. Tracy Tucker Superintendent of Schools
